This kit makes either a folded brim hat, or a hat with a little slouch and a pom pom. Both cosy, ribbed hats have simple, meandering cables for texture like a swirling tide.
The kit is suitable for someone who wants to try out easy cables or for more confident knitters who want some straightforward TV/pub/travelling knitting.
The yarn in the kit is 100% Shetland wool, in aran weight, in the colourway 'Turning Tides'- softly graded stripes in sea colours of blues, teals and charcoal.
The underlying rib pattern of the hats make them very stretchy, to fit most adult hats.
Techniques used include: knitting in the round, cast on, knit, purl, knit 2 together and cable. The patterns give both written and charted instructions.
The kit includes:
100g skein of Wild Shetland 100% Shetland wool yarn in shade 'Turning Tides'
Printed pattern for both hats
French bulb safety pin stitch marker
Just add:
4.5mm needle/s for knitting in the round (I use a 40cm circular and work the crown on double pointed needles but you could work the whole hat either on double pointed needles or on a circular needle using the magic loop method).
Cable needle
Wool needle for sewing in the ends
Please note, this listing is a kit and not the finished hat/s. Each kit includes enough yarn to make one hat. The listing doesn't include the mitts, or the apples, which I ate ages ago.

I love designing hand knitting patterns, from acessories to decorations. Here is a selection of my patterns available in the Woolly Brew yarn shop, Pittenweem, Fife, on Ravelry and from Di Gilpin.
