This kit makes a pair of Riptide Mitts. These cosy, ribbed mitts have a simple meandering cable for interesting texture, like a swirling tide.

The simple cables are suitable for someone who wants to try out easy cables or for more confident knitters who want some straightforward TV/pub/travelling knitting.

The yarn in the kit is 100% Shetland wool, in aran weight, in the colourway 'Turning Tides'- softly graded stripes in sea colours of blues, teals and charcoal. Because of the way the yarn is dyed, each mitt will be a little different from the other, but harmonious.

The underlying rib pattern of the mitts make them very stretchy to fit all but the biggest and smallest adult hands.

Techniques used include: knitting in the round, cast on, knit, purl, directional increases and cable. The printed pattern gives written instructions and also a link to a digital chart, for those who prefer charted instructions.

The kit includes:

100g skein of Wild Shetland 100% Shetland wool yarn in shade 'Turning Tides'

Printed pattern

2 french bulb safety pin stitch markers

Just add:

4.5mm needle/s for knitting  a small circumference in the round (Either a 25cm circular/two short circulars and work the thumb rib on double pointed needles, or work throughout on either on double pointed needles or on a longer circular needle using the magic loop method).

Cable needle

Wool needle for sewing in the ends

Please note, this listing is a kit and not the finished mitts. Each kit includes enough yarn to make one pair of mitts. The listing doesn't include the hats, or the apples, which I ate ages ago.
